Energy products on a wooden table: coffee, caffeine pouches, a can, gum and matcha

Coffee, pouches, gum, energy drinks: they're all, mostly, ways to deliver caffeine. What changes is the dose, how fast it hits, and what else comes along for the ride. We review energy products the way we review everything: what's actually on the label, what the research says, and what users report.

The one number to know: for most healthy adults, the FDA cites up to 400 mg of caffeine a day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects (FDA). Sensitivity varies a lot from person to person, and pregnancy, some medications, and some health conditions change the picture.
