On August 10, 2022, Lyons Magnus LLC expanded its July 28, 2022 voluntary recall of nutritional and beverage products for potential microbial contamination (including Cronobacter sakazakii and Clostridium botulinum) to include Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Vanilla and Chocolate ready-to-drink cartons (12ct/11 fl oz; UPCs 748927064100 and 748927064094; lots 2321 / Best By 08/20/2022 and 6521–7521 / Best By 09/13–09/14/2022 per the company expansion table). FDA Food Enforcement lists the lines as Class I recall numbers F-1661-2022 and F-1662-2022 under event_id 90667, recalling firm Lyons Magnus, Inc. (Fresno, CA), with product descriptions stating the shakes were manufactured for Optimum Nutrition, Inc. (Downers Grove, IL) and distributed nationwide. openFDA records recall initiation July 22, 2022, center classification August 30, 2022, and termination July 25, 2024. The openFDA product_quantity figure (about 53.8 million total units) covers all products in the Lyons Magnus recall family, not Optimum Nutrition SKUs alone. This is an ON-branded co-packed RTD inside a Lyons Magnus facility recall — not an Optimum Nutrition plant enforcement action.
Prop 65 consent judgment: ELF protein-lead settlement covering ON Gold Standard / Serious Mass / Pro Complex
In Environmental Law Foundation v. Abbott Laboratories et al., San Francisco Superior Court Nos. CGC-10-503002 and consolidated CGC-10-505382, the California Attorney General hosts Prop 65 settlement PDF 2010-00391S2488 — a [PROPOSED] Consent Judgment as to Certain Defendants that names Optimum Nutrition, Inc. in the caption and defines Settling Defendants for the Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition, Inc. (BSN) bucket as BSN and its affiliates Optimum Nutrition, Inc. (ON) and American Body Building Products, LLC (ABB). Attachment A lists Covered Products sold under the ON brand, including Gold Standard 100% Whey / Casein / Egg / Natural Whey, Serious Mass, Pro Complex, Platinum Hydrowhey, NitroCore 24, After Max, and related protein lines. Settling Defendants agreed to pay ELF a total of $755,000 ($675,000 fees/costs and $80,000 penalties), with each Settling Defendant's equal share $57,272 (Vital Pharmaceuticals and Chemisource higher). The Consent Judgment includes lead-testing / warning-or-reformulation injunctive terms and states it is not an admission of Proposition 65 liability. Party signatures and PDF metadata cluster around January 24–25, 2013; the hosted PDF's judicial "APPROVED AND ORDERED" Dated line is blank, so treat 2013-01-25 as approximate settlement-execution era rather than a locked file-stamp entry date. Frame as ON Covered Products inside a multi-defendant Prop 65 consent judgment — do not present $755,000 as an ON-only civil penalty.
