Class II recall: MuscleTech Alpha Test capsules — presence of cathine (F-0455-2025)

On December 18, 2024, Iovate Health Sciences USA Inc. (Wilmington, DE) initiated a voluntary recall of Alpha Test 120-count capsules (UPC 6-31656-60676-8; SKUs 0001191 / 0002075) for presence of cathine. FDA Food Enforcement lists the line as Class II recall number F-0455-2025 under event_id 96054, with product quantity totaling 163,248 units, multi-state U.S. plus foreign distribution, center classification January 29, 2025, report date February 5, 2025, and termination November 3, 2025. The openFDA product_description names "Alpha Test" without the MuscleTech brand string; the UPC 631656 family and contemporaneous ConsumerLab / trade listings identify the SKU as MuscleTech Alpha Test. This is an Iovate firm-initiated Class II adulterant recall of a MuscleTech-branded testosterone-booster capsule — not a Class I pathogen action and not a Hydroxycut liver-warning event.

Prop 65 consent judgment: ERC lead/cadmium settlement covering MuscleTech products ($625k)

In Environmental Research Center, Inc. v. Iovate Health Sciences U.S.A. Inc. and Iovate Health Sciences International Inc., Alameda County Superior Court No. RG16838524 (CA AG Prop 65 file 2016-00125), the California Attorney General hosts Stipulated Consent Judgment settlement PDF 2016-00125S6276 and judgment PDF 2016-00125J3756. The judgment resolves alleged failure to warn for lead and cadmium in Covered Products identified in 60-day notices and Exhibit F — including extensive MuscleTech lines (Phase8, Platinum 100% Iso-Whey / Beef / Iso-Zero, Mass Tech, Anarchy, Nitro Tech, GAKIC, and related Performance / Essential / Lab Series SKUs) alongside Hydroxycut, Six Star, EPIQ, and fuel:one products. Iovate agreed to pay ERC a total of $625,000.00 (civil penalty $186,725.64, of which 75% remits to OEHHA; Additional Settlement Payment $140,043.99; ERC costs $35,580.63; Lozeau Drury fees $124,022.04; ERC in-house legal fees $138,627.70), plus reformulation/warning injunctive terms capped at 0.5 micrograms of lead and 4.1 micrograms of cadmium per day. The Consent Judgment states it is not an admission of Proposition 65 liability. Party signatures cluster on December 22, 2017 (settlement reported to the AG that date); the Alameda Superior Court FILED stamp on the judgment PDF and the AG Judgment Date lock entry on March 2, 2018. Frame as MuscleTech Covered Products inside a multi-brand Iovate Prop 65 consent judgment — do not present $625,000 as a MuscleTech-only civil penalty or as a Hydroxycut / Six Star standalone card.
