Bloom Energy Drink Review
Bloom's can looks like a wellness soda. A 12 oz can is still a strong energy drink: 180 mg of caffeine, sucralose, and extras listed without doses.

Quick Summary
A zero-sugar, 180 mg energy drink. Fine as a caffeine choice for a healthy adult who already handles that dose. Not a health drink, and not for kids or pregnancy.
What the panels we opened actually showed
| Feature | What we could read | Source opened |
|---|---|---|
| Caffeine, 12 oz | 180 mg, from green coffee bean extract. The brand page says the 7.5 oz can is 100 mg. | bloomnu.com; CVS variety-pack listing |
| Calories and sugar | 10 calories. 0 g sugar. | Kroger, Gopuff, and Wegmans panels |
| Carbs and fiber | Kroger, Gopuff, and Wegmans showed 1 g carbohydrate and 0 g fiber. An older 2 g / 1 g fiber figure was not on those panels, so it is not used. | Same retailer panels |
| Sweetener | Sucralose. Potassium benzoate is listed as a preservative. | CVS ingredients; Kroger ingredients |
| Vitamins we could quantify | Gopuff listed niacin 8 mg (50% DV), vitamin B6 1.7 mg (100% DV), and vitamin B12 2.4 mcg (100% DV). Riboflavin is in the CVS ingredient list. Its milligrams were not on the panels we read. | Gopuff; CVS |
| Other actives, no amounts | Taurine, L-theanine, Panax ginseng, and apple cider vinegar showed up on the listings. Lychee and green tea extract were on CVS and Gopuff, not on the Kroger or Wegmans ingredient lines we read. | CVS, Gopuff, Kroger, Wegmans |
| Price | Kroger listed a 12 oz raspberry lemon can at $2.89. A ShopRite sale price from the draft notes was not re-opened. | Kroger, Nov 2, 2026 |
Bloom markets the drink as vegan and gluten-free. That is a brand claim.
Is Bloom energy drink healthy?
Compared with a sugary energy drink, the sugar line is the clear difference: the panels above show 0 g. See Celsius vs Red Bull for how sugar and caffeine split on two other cans.
Compared with coffee, 180 mg is in the range of a large brewed coffee. Bloom adds sucralose, a preservative, and small extras.
The extras are mostly unlabeled doses. One trial combined 50 mg of caffeine with 100 mg of L-theanine (Owen 2008). Bloom does not say how much L-theanine is in a can, so that trial cannot be applied to this drink. Ginseng, the fruit and tea extracts, and apple cider vinegar are in the same position.
Sucralose is FDA-approved as a sweetener. In 2023, WHO advised against using non-sugar sweeteners for weight control. That advice is mostly from observational data. It is a conditional recommendation, not a safety ban (WHO).
Does Bloom boost metabolism?
Caffeine slightly raises energy use for a few hours. That is true of caffeine in general. We did not find a published trial of Bloom Sparkling Energy. "Boosts metabolism" and "without the crash" are Bloom's marketing lines. For why a crash happens, see caffeine crash.
Who should skip Bloom energy
- Children and teens. FDA has not set a safe caffeine level for kids and urges caution.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding people. ACOG advises staying under 200 mg of caffeine a day. One 12 oz can is 180 mg.
- People sensitive to caffeine, or with heart rhythm problems, anxiety, or high blood pressure. Ask a doctor.
- Anyone already near 400 mg a day from coffee, pre-workout, or caffeine pouches.
Our verdict
Bloom Sparkling Energy is a zero-sugar, 180 mg energy drink in a wellness-style can. It is a reasonable swap for a sugary energy drink if you are an adult who handles caffeine well. Treat it as an energy drink. The functional extras are listed without doses. For lower-caffeine options, see healthiest energy drinks and our Celsius review.

Frequently Asked Questions
Bloom's page says 180 mg in the 12 oz can and 100 mg in the 7.5 oz can.
It has no sugar and 10 calories on the panels we read, and it is a high-caffeine drink with sucralose. That can fit a healthy adult. It is not for kids, and one 12 oz can is already 180 mg of the 200 mg ACOG pregnancy figure.
The Kroger, Gopuff, and Wegmans panels we opened showed 0 g sugar. The sweetener listed is sucralose.
Our Celsius review uses 200 mg per can. Bloom's 12 oz can is 180 mg, so they are close. Read the Celsius page before treating that 200 mg figure as permanent.
Bloom markets it as vegan and gluten-free. That is the brand's claim.
