Hush Strips Review 2026 — Synthetic Fabric With Weak Hold

Hush Strips uses a synthetic fabric blend that's easy to remove — too easy. The hold strength isn't sufficient for reliable overnight use in our testing.

★★★★★5.2 / 10

Hush Strips offers a synthetic mouth tape that prioritizes easy removal over hold strength. Unfortunately, a tape that comes off too easily defeats the purpose. The synthetic fabric also doesn't breathe as well as rayon alternatives. Better options exist at similar price points.

Easy Off, But Too Easy

Hush Strips uses a synthetic non-woven fabric — the same material category as Dryft Sleep, ShhTape, and Viory. Synthetic fabrics include materials like polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyester blends. When well-designed, they can offer good structure. When poorly executed, they can trap heat or cause breakouts.

In our testing, Hush Strips was very easy to pull off — but it didn't have the hold strength we were looking for. A mouth tape needs to stay on all night to be effective. If it's sliding off by 2 AM, it's not doing its job regardless of how comfortable it feels.

Material Analysis

The synthetic blend used by Hush Strips is lighter than rayon-based tapes but doesn't breathe as well. During warmer nights or for people who tend to sweat, this can lead to a less comfortable experience compared to bamboo/rayon alternatives like Sleep Karma or Awwawe.

Hold Strength vs. Comfort Tradeoff

There's always a tradeoff between how aggressively a tape holds and how comfortable it is to remove. The best tapes — like Sleep Karma, PapMD, and Awwawe — nail this balance. Hush Strips errs too far on the side of gentle, which means it doesn't reliably stay in place.

The Bottom Line

Hush Strips is comfortable but unreliable. If you want a gentle tape that actually stays on, look at rayon-based options like Sleep Karma or Awwawe. If you want a synthetic tape, ShhTape offers better hold at a similar price point.
