Cleaning performance

Clinical studies consistently show that basic oscillating-rotating brushes remove similar amounts of plaque to premium models when used with proper technique. You're paying for coaching features that help you achieve proper technique more consistently — a valuable but not strictly necessary investment.

The bottom line

The Oral-B iO Series 9 earns a 9.0 for being the most effective and intelligently designed toothbrush we've tested. The cleaning performance is top-tier, the pressure sensor genuinely changes behavior, and the OLED display provides useful feedback without phone dependency.
